While there is nothing like getting you hands on the latest fabric collection from your favourite designer, we are all becoming aware of the waste our wonderful hobby can sometimes create. So this issue, we encourage you to look at what fabrics you have, even dive into your offcuts basket, and see if there is a hidden gem in there. Because as we discover through the projects in this issue, you can often create the most wonderful makes using mostly scraps and your stash. There is no policing here, mix and match. It’s all about just taking a fresh look at how we sew. Buy that fabric print you’ve been dreaming of and use
it as the centre piece in a quilt that also uses pieces you had from other projects.

Fussy cutting Ruler
Your slotted template makes it easier than ever to mark your fabrics in five square sizes. Use the printed lines to easily centre motifs, or line up with directional prints (such as stripes). You can also use the marks to line up half- and quarter-square triangles, as well as four-patch units.
Keep in mind that almost any fabrics can be fussy cut! Take a look at your fabric stash and have a play with your template to see what really works for your project; whether it’s framing a cute motif or making kaleidoscopic designs from geometric repeats.
