In the market for a new quilt project? We’ve got just the thing for you! Our stunning beginner-friendly Desert Trails quilt by Lou Orth is the perfect project to practise Half-square Triangles and have a little fun with fabric placement!

Lou made her version with Carrie Shryock’s Desert Horses collection for Paintbrush Studio Fabrics, the ideal mix of large and small-scale prints to give your quilt irresistible movement. Pair with a plain white background fabric to make your prized fabrics pop.

With a simple combo of squares and easy Half-square Triangles, Desert Trails is suitable for beginner quilters wanting to learn the craft. You’ll even learn how to make a traditional Sawtooth Star block – make it look modern or keep it classic, depending on your choice of fabrics. Replicate our quilt right down to the tiny details or mix and match fabrics from your stash to put your own spin on the design.
