1. Pink Western Barbie pop culture Halloween costume
We’re kicking off our list with Greta Gretwig’s fabulous Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie as Barbie.
While there were many incredible outfits in the movie to choose from, our choice is the pink Western look.
It’s the signature look from the movie and is such a fun one to remake.
What you need:
- Hot pink waistcoat
- Hot pink flared trousers
- White cowgirl hat
- Hot pink neck scarf

2. Ken pop culture Halloween costume idea
He’s just Ken! There’s many legendary outfit choices for your Ken fancy dress. You could create a couple’s costume with Barbie, opting for Ken’s western look with a black fringed jacket, white cowboy hat and white boots.
Our favourite Ken look though, is Mojo Dojo Casa House Ken with the huge faux fur jacket, AKA Fauxjo Mojo Mink.
What you need:
- Faux fur coat in white
- Black sunglasses
- Black bandana
- Black jeans
- A bleach blonde wig (optional)

3. Timothée Chalamet in Wonka pop culture Halloween costume
Chalamet hit our screens in late 2023, so just missed last Halloween for that year, which is why it’s perfect for 2024 and beyond.
If you want to hit the party as a young Wonka, there’s a few things you’ll need to complete the look.
We’d recommend raiding charity and vintage stores for these items as they don’t need to be perfect but just need to look quirky and eccentric, most people will know who you are!
You’ll need:
- Long velvet red coat
- Top hat
- Scarf
- Cane

4. ‘The Unknown’ from the Wonka Glasgow Experience
A ripple was cast across the nation when the Wonka Experience opened in Glasgow in 2023. True to his name ‘The Unknown’ was a brand new character introduced into the story courtesy of AI, and due to its absurdity, took the internet by storm.
The rogue character wears a black cloak and silver mask, enough to scare the unsuspecting attendees of the experience, making it the perfect pop culture Halloween costume.
You won’t need a lot for this one:
- Silver chrome-style mask
- Black curly wig
- Black cape
5. Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour Halloween outfit
We had to include the queen that is Taylor Swift! The Era’s Tour has been the talk of the world over the last year, so would make the perfect topical fancy dress costume.
There have been countless outfits Taylor has worn throughout the Era’s Tour, but the overriding theme is sparkle, sequins and embellishment in the form of body suits and dresses.
Etsy is an amazing place to find Era’s Tour outfits made by small businesses. They can drastically range in price, but there are many reasonable options to be discovered.
During the Paris leg of her tour Taylor opted for this glittery pink and blue look.
We found a fabulous remake of the outfit for a very reasonable price by Joy G Design on Etsy.
6. Wicked Halloween costume
Of course, we had to include Wicked! The stage show is currently touring, making it the perfect pop culture Halloween costume for this year.
It would make a great Halloween theme for two friends – one person would be Elphaba and one Glinda. Whoever decides to be Elphaba will have to paint their skin green!
For Elphaba you’ll need:
- Black witches outfit
- Black witches hat
- Green face paint

7. The Last of Us – Joel
The Last of Us is back for season 2 in 2025, so there’s lots of hype around the characters and the actors.
To go as Pedro Pascal’s take on Joel, you’ll need to take on his rogue persona and unkempt look. You’ll need:
- Dirty boots
- flannel shirt
- Waxed trucker jacket
- Backpack
Your best bet may be to hit the charity or vintage shops in your local town, if that’s not convenient there’s lots of options online too. Top tip: when searching online, use the name of the item of clothing, rather than the character.

8. The Last of Us – Clicker Halloween costume
If you watched the first season of The Last of Us or played the videogame then you’ll be well aware of Clickers. Aggressive 3rd stage zombies, where the fungus has spread across their whole bodies. Sounds creepy right?
All you need for this costume is a mask, and we found the perfect one for it over on eBay. Other than the mask you can just wear old clothing and apply fake blood or rip in places.
9. The Traitors Halloween costume
The Traitors UK was back this year with a brand-new series. It was a tense series packed with drama that everyone was talking about!
If you can’t wait for the next series, then why not dress up this Halloween as a traitor yourself?

10. Deadpool Vs Wolverine Halloween costumes
Channel your inner Deadpool or Wolverine and celebrate the summer’s biggest blockbuster. Pair up with a buddy and this could be an amazing duo Halloween costume.
We’ve found both costumes available to buy online. The Deadpool includes a muscle-padded jumpsuit and mask. The Wolverine includes a jumpsuit, mask and gloves with detachable claws.

11. Inside Out 2 Halloween costumes
The incredible Disney-Pixar movie knocked it out of the park with the second instalment of Inside Out. They introduced us to Riley’s new emotions: Anxiety, Embarrassment and Ennui (AKA boredom).
It would be so fun to dress up as any of these new emotions, but anxiety is certainly a stand-out character.
You’ll need:

Bridgerton graced our screens in 2024 with season 3 starring the beloved Penelope. As always there was an incredible array of costumes to marvel at!
If you’re a big fan of the series and period costume it would make the most perfect pop culture Halloween costume.
There’s so many costumes available online, so you just need to consider your price point. For example on Etsy, you’ll find dresses that are exact replicas of what you see on screen, but as you can imagine they come with a big price tag.
