Ease of use

I found one of the standout features of the Swan Duo 13-in-1 to be its incredible ease of use. The 13 pre-set features take all the guesswork out of cooking and the straightforward manual makes it especially easy to get started.

The touchscreen interface is intuitive and a helpful strip on the top of the air fryer displays the various cooking options, so there’s no need to refer to the manual every time you cook.

The dual baskets allow for flexible cooking so you can cook two foods at different times and temperatures or use the ‘Match Cook’ button to sync both baskets. Simply press A or B on the air fryer to choose which basket to apply the time, temperature, or pre-set function to. Both baskets can operate simultaneously to streamline meal preparation.

The baskets are also easy to clean and are dishwasher-safe, removing even more of the hassle from mealtime.

Design

From first impressions, this is easily one of the most stylish air fryers I've used. Inspired by Nordic design, it features a sleek and curved aesthetic that’s a welcome departure from the bulky, boxy models commonly found on the market. Its stylish appearance means it’s perfectly fine to leave on the worktop when not in use and makes a stylish accessory for all kitchens.

The wooden-effect handles enhance its appeal, and the air fryer is available in two neutral colours: white and grey. These colours seamlessly complement a variety of kitchen colour schemes.

One minor drawback is that the power button blinks continuously once the air fryer is turned off. To avoid this, I tend to switch the appliance off at the mains after use. While this is slightly inconvenient, it’s not a major issue.

Size and capacity

The 8-litre capacity, combined with the dual-drawer feature, helps remove the fuss from mealtime. Whether you’re cooking portions large enough to feed a family, preparing multiple components of a meal simultaneously, or catering to fussy eaters with different dishes, this air fryer handles it all with ease.

However, the large capacity does come at a price. This model is bigger than the average air fryer and takes up considerable counter space. While this may not be an issue for those with larger kitchens, we’d advise people with smaller spaces to check the dimensions before purchasing.

That being said, the air fryer’s sleek design makes it a worktop-worthy appliance, so storing it in plain sight shouldn’t be a problem.

Performance

The air fryer has a maximum temperature of 200°C, which is slightly lower than some other models on the market.

I tested it by cooking chips in one tray and chicken in the other, using the pre-set functions on the user interface. The chips were cooked at 200°C for 18 minutes, while the chicken required 175°C for 18 minutes.

Since I started the chips slightly earlier, they finished cooking first, signalled by a beeping sound. To keep them warm, I used the ‘Keep Warm’ function, which worked well. The chips remained warm without drying out, which was a pleasant surprise.

The baskets required occasional shaking to ensure even cooking, but the overall results were impressive. The chips came out crispy, and the chicken was evenly cooked and tender.

I also used the dehydrate function to create dried orange slices, perfect for DIY wrapping paper, garlands, and other crafts. This method worked excellently, producing evenly dehydrated oranges with minimal effort.

Value for money

The Swan Duo 13-in-1 does lack some features found in higher-spec air fryers, such as smart control or transparent drawers. However, its ease of use, stylish design, and overall performance more than make up for these omissions.

For its price point, this air fryer offers excellent value, combining functionality and aesthetics in a user-friendly package.

Overall

The Swan Duo 13-in-1 is a combination of user-friendly features, sleek Nordic-inspired design, and reliable performance, making it a standout air fryer for both style and functionality.

While its larger size may be a consideration for smaller kitchens, its dual-basket capacity and ease of use make it ideal for families and multitasking meals. Overall, it offers excellent value for those looking for an efficient and attractive addition to their kitchen.
