Summary

This Swan stand mixer is ideal for keen bakers looking to make their baking a little easier. As well as being effective, the stand looks great on your kitchen countertop, with 4 colours to choose from so you can be sure to find a shade to compliment your other appliances.

With the mixing bowl on the smaller side of things (4 litres), the Swan stand mixer is great for smaller recipes and batches, perfect for cookies, muffins and loaves. With 3 interchangeable head options, the stand can be adapted according to the consistency of your ingredients.

Ease of Use

We love how easy this product is to use, ideal for entry level/casual bakers. Although instructions are provided, the mixer is very straightforward and suitable for all ages and abilities.

There is no digital element to the design, but a simple switch control to change speeds and directions with ease. In addition, the pop-up head with the small lever on the side allows the top element of the mixer to slide upwards, meaning you can easily access the bowl to add more ingredients.

As mentioned, the product comes with 3 mixing tools, a dough hook, whisk or beater meaning you can make changes based on your recipe. We found the whisk worked particularly well for muffins, and the beater better for cookies and biscuits.

With suction pads at the bottom of the mixer, it also feels very secure on the surface regardless of the speed/mixing. With the addition of a transparent splash guard, both dry and more moist recipes work perfectly fine, keeping your countertops mess free the whole time!

Results

All 3 hooks worked effectively to mix all the products, although not always reaching the sides of the bowl completely for stubborn ingredients such as butter. However we found a quick glide of the mixing bowl with a spoon solved the issue instantly.

All ingredients were mixed quickly and consistently, saving time through the baking process. In addition, the bowl is very easy to slide in and out of place making it super straightforward to remove the bowl and weigh added ingredients to it.

The bowl and all hooks were also super easy to clean. We chose to hand wash our bowl, whilst placing the hooks into the dishwasher as they were slightly more fiddly. Both worked perfect well and came out squeaky clean and ready to use again.

Lastly, our cakes came out light and fluffy, whilst our cookies held their shape just the way we like them.

Conclusion

The Swan Stand Mixer is super easy to use and affordable. Making it an ideal gift for keen bakers, this product will save you time whilst likely improving your results as you no longer need to rely on your tired wrists to do the mixing for you!

Although it’s important to note the capacity is 4 litres (others on the market sit around 6.5 litres), making this a better choice for smaller recipes and batches.

With minimal plastic included, the packaging is mostly recyclable making it easy to discard of in your general household recycling.
