Craft Box Club subscription review
What is Craft Box Club?
Craft Box Club is an eco-friendly craft subscription service. For £22 a month you'll have a beautiful craft box arrive at your door complete with all the materials to make the project inside.
Craft Box Club typical craft projects
Craft Box Club offers a huge range of projects in their monthly boxes which you can also buy as one-off boxes. Past boxes have included:
- Macrame star decorations
- Needle felt rainbow heart bunting
- Circular loom weaving
- Jewelry making
- Avocado tie-dying
And we tested two craft subscription boxes which were marbled copper leaf plant pots and bargello tealight holders.
How much is Craft Box Club?
Craft Box Club costs £22 a month and has free postage and packaging. You can cancel anytime and the company ship worldwide. Subscribe to Craft Box Club here.
You can also buy selected craft boxes from their site and they range from £20-£25.
Is Craft Box Club good value for money?
From the two Craft Box Club boxes I tested, I think they are good value for money. The kit comes with everything you need inside. It's a general crafting box which means you'll get a different project every month to get creative with! I am a crafting novice so these projects were good value for me because they were achievable and introduced me to several new techniques and skills.
However, if you're an experienced crafter you may want to choose a subscription box with more challenging makes inside. You may find the projects inside not worth the money since you can complete them in a few hours.
What are the subscription terms?
Orders which were placed on Friday before 5pm will be placed on Saturday and all orders will be sent out on a Saturday. You can contact Craft Box Club by email to ask for rushed delivery. Craft Box Club is not a fixed subscription meaning you can cancel anytime. You can cancel easily by clicking Manage my Subscription on the site.
Craft Box Club: What's in the box?
My Craft Box Club included:
- Three white ceramic pots with wooden hexagonal stands
- A sheet of copper-gold leaf
- Four wooden sticks for stirring
- A glass pot full of PVA glue
- White paint powder
- Black paint powder
- A leaflet with a list of materials included, tips for making, and a QR code that links to photo instructions and a video tutorial
- A Tea Pigs teabag
Are the projects supplies of good quality?
All the products in my marbled plant pot box were of great quality. The ceramic pots felt sturdy and the wooden bases were pretty and well crafted. The paints worked well as it was easy to swirl them together with the glue to create a marbled pattern. There was plenty of marbled mixture, glue, and copper leaf left so I could have easily made more marbled items!
Are the boxes available nationwide in the UK?
Craft Box Club ships worldwide and all boxes have free delivery.
How much packaging is there?
Craft Box Club prides itself on completely eco-friendly packaging. The box and stuffing can be recycled as well as the glass jar of glue once it's been washed out. Even the sachets the paint powder came in are made of biodegradable cellulose.
How easy are the projects to make?
Both projects I made from Craft Box Club were simple to make and suitable for a complete craft novice like me! I was able to make both kits in a short amount of time and they were very enjoyable.
Are the instructions clear?
The instructions could be a little clearer as exact measurements and counts aren't used. It's more estimates like 1/3rd or stitch 1, 2, 3 rather than exact instructions but overall I still found them easy to follow. I also liked that each project came with a video tutorial as well as photo instructions. However you did need access to find the instructions, they weren't in the box. This is something to consider if you don't have access to the internet easily or are unable to use QR codes.
What are the finished projects like?
Both the finished projects came out lovely and looked just like the picture. I was very pleased with the result and think they'd make great items to display or gift to a friend.
What other craft stash did you need to make the project?
Very minimal items were needed to complete both kits. For the marbled kit, all I needed to provide was a plate and water to mix the paint on/with. For the tea lights, no other items were required everything came in the box! The fact that everything comes in the box makes Craft Box Club a great option for newbie crafters.
Who would these subs boxes be most useful for?
Craft Box Club subscription is perfect for new crafters who want to dabble in a diverse range of techniques and mediums. If you want a kit that includes everything you need to make some trending crafts then this is the subscription box for you. They're great little evening projects that will only take you a few hours to do, ideal for those of us who wouldn't want to commit to a long, challenging project.
I wouldn't recommend the box to crafters who want a detailed project every month. Those of you who are experienced in many different types of crafts may find the projects too simple and therefore not worth £22 a month. But if you're just experienced in one specific craft and want to diversify your stash then Craft Box Club is still for you.
What’s your favourite thing about this product?
My favourite thing about Craft Box Club is the eco-friendly packaging and the company itself. They make a donation to an urban tree planting company for every subscription order and support local artists/businesses through the boxes projects and materials. They're a great choice for eco-conscious crafters who want to enjoy making in a sustainable way. Overall I'd definitely recommend Craft Club Box as I think it's good value for money and super fun!
