These cheery quarter fold cards are a fun alternative to your standard base cards and they’re perfect if you want to include a surprise inside. The folding mechanism is deceptively easy to put together, and once you have got the hang of quarter folds, you can vary the design either vertically or horizontally.

The various panels of the card front are perfect for decorating with your favourite toppers, punched details and embellishments. When decorating the internal panels of the card, keep the paper layers to a minimum so that the panels can still be folded shut.

Shopping List:

  • Die-cutting machine
  • White and coloured card
  • Kraft card
  • Pink ink pad
  • Sentiment stamps
  • Ice cream stamps, dies or toppers
  • Glossy Accents
  • Embellishments to decorate your card

You will need:

  • Die-cutting machine

Step 1

Cut kraft card into a 14×21.6cm rectangle. Measure and mark 5.4cm from each short end. Using a ruler and a scoring tool, score downwards from each marked line. Gently burnish each fold and unfold.

Step 2

Cut a 10.8x28cm piece of kraft card. Mark 7cm from each short end and score. Secure the centre of this folded panel to the centre of the folded panel from step 1 to form a horizontal cross shape, as shown.

Step 3

Cover each inner flap with paper. Stamp a sentiment onto a 13x10cm piece of white card. Attach to the centre of the base card. Fold the top flap down first, then the left flap, then the bottom flap and then tuck the right flap under the top flap.

Step 4

Cover the panels with patterned paper. Add Glossy Accents to an ice cream and doughnut and attach to the base. Trim a stamped sentiment and add to the top-right panel. Add silver brads, to finish.
