Ahhh, lovely! You know it must be Christmas when you see a card featuring one of Lesley Teare's lovely teddy bear cross stitch patterns. And this teddy bear cross stitch pattern even has a snowman pal and warm winter hat! This teddy bear cross stitch pattern is worked on 28-count white evenweave over two threads of the fabric in 21 shades of stranded cotton and one shade of metallic thread. Cross stitch is in two strands of cotton or metallic, with fractionals for extra detail. Backstitch defines the designs in one strand of cotton or metallic, and French knots are worked in one strand of cotton. Because of the number of fractional stitches and the amount of colours used, this teddy bear cross stitch pattern is recommended for experienced stitchers. This teddy bear cross stitch pattern was originally published as part of a collection of 4 different teddy bear cross stitch patterns in Cross Stitch Gold issue 158. As this issue is no longer available, Lesley Teare has kindly given us one of the designs from the set to offer as a free cross stitch download for all our Gathered crafters!
How to stitch the teddy bear cross stitch pattern
- Find the centre of your fabric by folding it in half both ways. Find the centre of the chart and start here.
- Work the cross stitch over two threads of the fabric using two strands of cotton or metallic. For every tiny symbol on the chart, work a fractional stitch.
- Work the backstitch detail using one strand of cotton or metallic thread.
- Work the French knots using one strand of cotton.
- Check over your stitching and prepare for making up.
