Simply Crochet x Melon Mission: FREE patterns - crochet for charity!

At Simply Crochet, when our colleague, Janine Smith, told us she was going to volunteer at a school in Kenya, we wanted to find out more and tell you how your crochet can help.

Janine’s autistic child, Sonny, attends Threeways School in Bath, and she discovered that his Consultant Speech and Language Therapist, Elizabeth Henderson, and Special Needs Teacher, Veryan Cranston, work in partnership with the Melon Mission School on a volunteer basis. They work with Kenyan colleagues to develop sustainable change in their school and community, especially for families caring for children with a range of disabilities.

Download our Education for All feature PDF to find out more about the Melon Mission School.

Join us in sending some crocheted joy to the Melon Mission School!

We’ve put together patterns for hats, toys, dolls and more – see the PDF above for more information. Download your patterns below for FREE, and you can also send lap blankets, motifs and squares to be used as fidget shapes.

To be in time for Janine, Elizabeth and Veryan’s next visit in April 2025, please send your items to arrive by 15 March. Any items sent later will not be wasted but will be taken on following trips.

Please send finished items to: Elizabeth Henderson, The Hawthornes, Bruton Road, Evercreech, Somerset BA4 6HY
