Rhian Drinkwater's socks from issue 79 of Simply Knitting are perfect for showing off a special skein of sock yarn. With a stylish cable braid and lots of stocking stitch, they'd look great in both solid and variegated colourways.
If you have trouble with 'ladders' – columns of loose stitches – forming at the points where the double-pointed needles meet, try pulling the yarn tighter when working the first couple of stitches on each needle. This will help to keep the tension even across the join.
We recommend casting on with an elastic cast on such as the long-tail cast on or the German twisted cast on method.
You will need:
Laughing Yaffle, Fledgling Alpaca Sock, 1 x 100g skein of Clover
A set of 2¾mm double-pointed knitting needles
