The crocheted necklace patterns are both made in 100% cotton, which will show off your stitches beautifully, and are finished off with a simple button fastening. There's 2 styles of this free crochet necklace pattern - a shell trim and an arch trim, but both crochet necklace patterns are made in the same way.
You will need
Patons 4ply 100% cotton (100g/330m), 1 ball of each
- Yarn A Raffia
- Yarn B Cream
1 x small 2 hole shell button for each necklace

Approx 4 pattern repeats per 10cm

Shell Trim crocheted necklace pattern
To make either of the crochet necklace patterns slightly longer, simply add a multiple of 6 to the chain at the beginning of the pattern - each 6ch will give you approx an extra 2.5cm.
Using 2mm hook & Yarn A , ch98
Row 1: Ch1, dc into 2nd ch from hook, dc into each ch to end, turn. [98sts]
Row 2: Ch2, tr into first dc, *ch1, miss 1dc, tr into next st, rep from * until last stitch, tr into last st, turn
Row 3: Ch1, ss into each of the first 2tr,* miss next ch1-sp and tr, 7tr into next ch1-sp, miss next tr, dc into next ch1-sp, ch3, miss next tr, dc into next ch1-sp, miss next tr, rep from * 14 times, miss next tr, 7tr into next ch1-sp, miss next tr, dc into last ch1-sp, ss into last tr and top of turning ch.
Do not turn, work 8ch for button loop, fasten off leaving a long length to sew chain to necklace for the button loop.

Row 3: Ch1, dc into each of the first 2tr, dc into ch1-sp, * ch5, miss the next (tr, ch1 sp, tr), dc into next ch1-sp, ch3, miss next tr, dc into next ch1-sp, repeat from * 14 times, ch5, miss the next (tr, ch1-sp, tr), dc into last ch1-sp, ss into last tr and into top of turning ch, turn.
Row 4: Ch1, *(2dc, 2htr, 3tr, 2htr, 2dc) into 5ch arch, ch3, miss next dc, tr into 3ch arch, ch3, miss next dc, rep from * 14 times, (2dc, 2htr, 3tr, 2htr, 2dc) into 5ch arch, ss into last dc.
Do not turn, work 8ch for button loop, fasten off leaving a long length to sew chain to necklace for the button loop.
Making up for both designs
Sew the loop to the top edge of the necklace to form loop, then sew in all loose ends.
Finishing off for both designs
Block and press necklace by pinning out on an ironing board using pins, ensuring that all the shells and arches are pinned out, spray with cold water and gently press with a towel. Once dry remove the pins and sew the shell button to the right side of the necklace at the opposite end from the loop, then sew in the loose ends.
