This wardrobe can dry your wet clothes once you store them away. How does this hack work?

How do you wash and dry your clothes in 2025 without spending a fortune? Electric dryers are costly to run, your garden space is too small, or you've stubbed your toe on your clothes horse one too many times. Many turn to portable dryers. We can do you one better. How about a self-drying wardrobe? We welcome the future with open arms.

The XIAQING Portable Dryer: wardrobe meets clothes dryer...

Available from Amazon US ($69.99)

This wardrobe meets electric dryer is a miracle for those with small spaces. It's under $70, we were so excited when we found this hidden in Amazon's site.

With two levels of rails to fit up to 15kg of clothing (shirts, dresses, pants, the lot), this self-drying wardrobe sends 360 degrees of 110V heat to dry your items without damage. Zip it up, and it functions to store your clothing neatly without dust. Plus, the cute illustration on the front is an adorable bonus. Who can resist a happy cloud?

Ideal for places like small apartments, RV, campers and more, Amazon's portable dryer solves the problem of washing and drying clothes by doing it...all at once. So simple, and yet so brilliant. The 180-minute smart timer chooses the drying time according to the thickness of clothes. Safety is covered too thanks to...

  • Flame-retardant materials
  • Intelligent temperature maintenance
  • Automatic power-off protection from overheating

What do the self-drying wardrobe reviews say?

With a 4 out of 5 star-rating on Amazon, reviews are mostly positive with some small gripes that we'll point out. One of the many glowing customers says:

This portable dryer is absolutely amazing, drying time was about the same as other dryers, it’s worth the money and gets real hot... If you’re looking for a dryer for small spaces that works then look no further.

Another reviewer says:

Quiet – this doesn't make a sound! I used to not be able to hear the TV with my previous dryer on... It is energy efficient – small plug. Not an energy guzzler. No ironing – if you put your clothes on wire hangers, they will come out like the dry cleaners! Also for some reason the clothes smell a lot nicer... blankets and towels come out super warm and really fluffy in a way I can't explain.

Negatives: some note is that drying may take a bit longer than a conventional electric dryer. One reviewer also notes that "the forced air system on this model is supposed to balance on the bottom bars... my machine didn't balance on the bars, so I placed a large cookie sheet and put the machine on it and that seemed to work."

However, they concluded with "I feel like the pros outweigh the cons for me and it was certainly cheaper than buying a traditional dryer right now, as I am enjoying the novelty and efficiency of this one. I'm really happy with it!"
