Jo Allport
Knitting designer and technical writer
Jo Allport is a knitting pattern designer, technical craft journalist and soon-to-be-published knitting book author who lives and works in Stirling in Scotland. Her patterns and articles are regularly published in Simply Knitting magazine, Knitting magazine and in Let’s Knit magazine. She also works as a craft teacher and demonstrator, leading knitting workshops for destination craft shop, Karelia House in stunning Highland Perthshire. Jo also works with Rico designs to publish a knitting pattern booklet every year, Scheepjes and a number of smaller yarn brands. Her work includes beginner knits all the way though to intricate designs, where she likes to showcase more involved stitch patterns and techniques. Jo came to knitting from the corporate world where she worked as a project manager, but felt she lacked creativity in her life. Her mum suggested she try her hand at making knitting kits, which were her first steps into the yarn world, but then realised she enjoyed and had a flare for designing knitting patterns, so she now focusses on these.
