How we tested
We tested multiple craft lights based on five main criteria: brightness, functionality, design, portability, and value for money.
Using a light meter app, we measured the lux output from 50cm away and compared it to EU standards for indoor work lighting. We tested different lighting modes across various crafting scenarios, adjusting angles and positions to see how well each light performed.
We examined the design for both aesthetic appeal and ergonomic functionality, considering the light’s portability and ease of transport.
Lastly, we assessed value for money by comparing the features and performance of each light against its price to gauge affordability.

Brightness- 5/5
When I first turned on the High Definition Floor Light, I was immediately struck by the brightness. This lamp is equipped with a 7.2W LED light, boasting a lux range of 3,600 to 7,200lx at 50cm, and a CRI of 98%.
It truly mimics daylight, making it easier to see details and colours accurately without causing eyestrain. I found the dimming feature particularly useful; with a simple roll of the wheel, I could adjust the light intensity to my preference, whether I was working on a detailed project or reading a book.
Portability - 5/5
Despite its solid construction, the lightweight base model I tested (weighing in at just under 3kg) is surprisingly easy to move around. This model stands at 144cm tall with a 20cm base diameter, making it compact enough to slip under furniture or move from room to room with ease.
This portability was a major plus for me, especially when I wanted to shift my crafting spot to different spots around the house.
Functionality - 4/5
The flexible arm allows for precise adjustments, and the precision swivel joint at the light head lets you angle the beam exactly where you need it.
I loved the intuitive controls located on the light head, which made it easy to turn on/off, adjust brightness, and modify the beam width without fuss.
This lamp effortlessly transitioned from providing broad illumination for general tasks to focusing a narrow beam for more intricate work.
However, there was no option to adjust the colour temperature of the lamp. It's provides a constant blend of warm and cool to mimic pure daylight, which I found great, but others may prefer to be able to adjust the temperature.
While we tested the lightweight base option, there are other configurations available. The heavyweight base offers added stability for those who need it, and there’s even a Gemini option with dual light heads for shared spaces. Though we didn’t test these, it’s good to know there are customisable options to suit different needs and preferences.
Design- 5/5
In terms of design, I tested the black model with a brass finish, which offers a sleek, industrial aesthetic that fits well in any modern interior. There's also a white option, and you can choose between the matte black, brass, or nickel finish to customise your lamp.
The build quality is exceptional, with every component feeling robust and well-crafted. The ergonomic handle on the light head is a thoughtful touch, making it easy to adjust the lamp without straining.
The attention to detail in the design is apparent, from the sturdy flexible arm to the solid base that ensures stability.
I also loved how it came ready-built, with clear instructions of how to remove it from the box on the cardboard packaging.
Value for money - 4/5
While the High Definition Floor Light isn’t cheap, it’s clear that it offers great value for money. This is not just a piece of furniture but an investment in a high-quality tool that enhances indoor living.
Given its durability, functionality, and the five-year warranty, this lamp is a sound investment for anyone serious about their lighting needs.
