Step 1
Cut your string to size
Begin by cutting three different lengths of the 10mm string.
You will need 1 x 18cm, 1 x 20cm and 1 x 22cm.
Step 2
Start wrapping
Take the first 10mm piece of string. Measure 2cm from one end and then start wrapping the 3mm string around.
The best way to do this is to fold the 3mm string end, then wrap it around the end and the 10mm string.
Continue wrapping until you reach 2cm at the other end.
Step 3
Trim the string and tidy the tail
Cut the string, leaving a 2cm tail. With a weaving needle feed the tail end neatly back inside the 10mm string.
Trim away the end, if any is showing.
Step 4
Repeat steps 2 to 3
With the other 2 pieces of string repeat steps 2-3, making sure that the ends are aligned when you fold the strings.

Step 5
Make a loop so your ghost can hover
Add a piece of white thread to the middle of the longest piece of wrapped string, as shown. Knot to make a loop and use it to hang up the ghost.
Step 6
Assemble your ghost with glue
Turn the wrapped strings and glue them together, using a glue gun or clear glue.
Start with the shorter piece of string, fold it in half and glue, then add the others in the same way one by one.
Glue the pieces together.
Step 7
Craft a ghoulish felt face
While you’re waiting for the glue to dry, cut an oval template about 1-1.5cm long from a piece of paper or card.
Use the template to cut two or three oval shapes from black felt, for the eyes and mouth.
Step 8
Complete your ghost with fiendish finishing touches
Turn the ghost, brush the fringes of the wrapped strings and trim to the desired length.
Use the glue to fix the black oval shapes to the ghost.
Add a decorative wooden bead through the white thread before hanging the ghost.
