Quality - 4/5
I found the print quality of the Canon ZoeMini 2 pretty impressive. The resolution of 313 x 500 dpi delivers clear, sharp images, although there is a slight blue hue to the prints, giving them a nostalgic, Polaroid-like feel.
Brightly lit photos come out best, for a print with vibrant colours and heightened contrast. Shadows are a bit dark, but overall, the quality is great for a portable printer.
Functionality - 4/5
Setting up the ZoeMini 2 was a breeze. I just followed the QR code on the instructions, downloaded the app, and connected my phone via Bluetooth. Printing directly from my phone was really straightforward.
The printer uses ZINK technology, so no ink cartridges are needed, which is a huge plus. To load the printer, simply slide the top panel up and off, and pop the paper in.
The only downside is the app’s sticker and text functions, which can be a bit finicky and hard to adjust. I found that pinching and zooming to arrange the stickers was quite fiddly on my iPhone - I imagine it would be easier on a larger screen, like an iPad or tablet.
I printed a mix of circular stickers and 5 x 7.6cm prints, which also have a peel-off sticky back so I could easily stick them straight into my scrapbook.
It's also worth noting that the paper should be stored between 0 and 25°C, with a humidity of 40-55% RH (relative humidity), and the printer should be stored at 15 - 32°C with 40-55% RH. This is because it's a thermal printer, and excessive temperatures might affect the paper.
Portability - 5/5
This printer is incredibly portable. I could fit it in my handbag, pocket, and a festival bum bag with other bits and bobs packing away nicely.
Weighing just 177g, you can take it anywhere without any hassle. Plus, it charges fully in just 50 minutes, so it’s ready to go whenever you are.
Aesthetics - 5/5
The Canon ZoeMini 2 is sleek, modern, and smooth to the touch. I love the minimalist design, and the intuitive controls make it easy to use. It's also available in pink, blue, and white - so there's a something for everyone!
With just the power button and reset button, the interface doesn't feel crowded. I also love the way the LED indicator changes colours when printing, flashing between magenta, cyan, and yellow.
Value for money - 4/5
At £89.99 (on sale), I think the ZoeMini 2 is reasonably priced, especially considering its features. It’s cheaper than some competitors, like the Polaroid printer, and offers a good balance of price and functionality.
The ongoing cost of paper can add up, but if you’re into photography or scrapbooking, it’s a worthwhile investment.
