2023 is here and we’re yet to know what this year will bring in terms of fashion, culture and events. However, the one thing we can predict is colours!
We’ve teamed up with the wonderful Gudrun Sjödén to bring you our 2023 colour trend predictions. There are six gorgeous colours we’ve noticed growing in popularity and we think these colours are going to appear on runaways, in high street stores and among 2023 collections very soon.
To help you work these six colours into your wardrobe, we’ve paired each colour with some outfit inspiration. All the pieces we’ve included can be shopped over at Gudrun Sjödén or can be used as future outfit inspiration.
Let’s discover what stunning colour trends 2023 has in store for us!
Six 2023 colour trend predictions
1. Gold docker
Luxe yet understated, our 2023 colour trend prediction had to include gold. You’ve probably seen the rise of gold jewellery and homewares but we think 2023 is going to see an introduction to subtle gold-coloured clothing.
We’re not talking about garish gold, we’re talking about that beautiful pale gold. The one which looks like spun silk and golden hair! It’s a more natural shade that’s seen in many Middle Eastern designs and makes striking clothing.
This organic cotton dress from Gudrun Sjödén uses the shade gold docker to bring this simple dress to life. The gold base colour gives the simple shape and style an upgraded look while still remaining understated. It’s the holiday dress of dreams and works the gold trend into your wardrobe without being too extravagant.
2. Parrot red
Colour trends come and go but we think bright Parrot Red is here to stay. This vibrant shade is a spring/summer staple and we think it’ll be featured in many brands’ 2023 collections.
This fun shade is the bright sister of the more sexy reds, making it a young, exciting addition to your wardrobe. It’s loud, proud and reminds us of happy times. It can be an intimidating colour to work into your wardrobe but once you’ve mastered it you’ll never want to take it off!
Take, for example, Gudrun Sjödén’s amazing ‘Salsa’ skirt which combines Parrot Red with colourful patterns. The pattern helps to tone down the brightness of the skirt, making it more wearable day to day. We love how they’ve paired the Salsa skirt with a turquoise top (a colour featured later down in our 2023 colour trends predictions list).
3. Sapphire blue
In previous colour trend predictions, pastel and baby blue have been favourites but for 2023 it’s all about rich and bright shades. Sapphire blue is a gorgeous deep colour based on the precious stone. It’s a colour found across the world, with textiles and homewares from Morocco and Mexico using Sapphire blue frequently. It’s also a shade associated with royalty, power and elegance.
Thanks to its worldwide and royal associations, it’s a colour we think will take the spotlight in 2023. Sapphire blue is an incredible colour that can elevate any look. Just take this all-blue outfit from Gudrun Sjödén. Despite the outfit being primarily blue, the different shades work together to make a rich tapestry of colour.
4. Turquoise
Another bold and beautiful 2023 colour prediction is turquoise. This colour is going to come back in a big way this year with clashing brights and patterns hitting the high street and runway.
It’s such a joyful colour which encourages you to become playful with your wardrobe. It’s perfect both for accessorising your house and wearing in the heat of summer. It reminds us of exotic holidays abroad and happiness!
Gudrun Sjödén's Havana dress is the perfect example of this. Contrasting prints, breezy shape and that gorgeous turquoise panel in the middle. You can’t help but smile when you wear this dress!

5. Guava
Based on the gorgeous colour found inside the tropical fruit, Guava is a colour we’re super excited to see this spring/summer. It’s a unique shade that sits somewhere between coral and light pink.
This is one of the more muted colours of our 2023 colour predictions but it’s no less beautiful. It’s perfect for those wanting to bring colour into their wardrobe and home but are apprehensive about bold shades.
It’s an ideal accent colour too, bringing out the beauty of yellows, blues and whites. If you’re nervous about wearing this colour on its own, opt for it as an accent like in Gudrun Sjödén’s geometric dress. You can see how the guava compliments the yellow tones in a subtle yet stunning way.
6. Wild pink
For our final 2023 colour trend prediction, we need you to think pink! From subtle baby pinks to dark peony, you’ll be seeing a lot more of it this year. Whether it’s used for homewares or clothing, we’re reclaiming pink and 2023 will be its year!
Traditionally, pink had negative stereotypical connotations. Typically associated with women, it was seen as a silly, hyper-feminine colour. For 2023 we’re claiming the colour back and using it to decorate our homes and bodies as a sign of empowerment.
No brand does this better than Gudrun. Their spring/summer collection encapsulates powerful femininity through pink shades. Wild pink can be found throughout the collection and is used as the base of many of their comfortable, flattering and form-friendly pieces.
Their Fire Lilly cardigan uses Wild Pink in combination with floral patterns to make the perfect spring item.
Work 2023’s colour trends into your wardrobe
2023’s six colour trends will be cropping up all over the runway and high street this year. They’re bright, bold and the perfect colours to incorporate into your wardrobe for this spring/summer.
The inclusion of these colours in your outfits will keep you on trend and looking fabulous, whether you do so with dresses, skirts, or simple accessories.
